Maze

A stampede of smiley flowers greets us as we open the door. And we can’t help but smile and giggle and take pictures – like acknowledging adoring fans on nature’s carpet walkway.

It’s blissful here. Everything is clear and warm and bright. The perfect conditions to breathe deep – and frolick with my best friend. My nostrils have drunk every drop in their cup of air, and then instantly refilled for more.

The vertical lines on her bottom lip lie there like letters in the sand: “MIA”. The same during soft mornings.

They show the 7 lives she’s conquered. The brightness she’s thrown into the world. The smiles she’s received. Just by being. By smiling. By moving her hands with her heart.

As I write this, I realise we haven’t been to a beach in this lifetime yet. I look forward to that.

I look forward to it all.
